A LIFE OF CONVENIENCE: THE INDIFFERENT MAJORITY AND THE WELL TRAVELED RIGHT-HAND PATH THEY FOLLOW: PART III
By Casey Allen
PART III
OF OBJECTION: THE FINE LINE BETWEEN AUTHORITY AND FALSE ADVERTISING
For so long a self-appointed establishment has deemed what is sinful,
What is destructive and unacceptable
These sellers of pipe dreams put themselves in positions of power by utilizing horrific imagery and promises of an enigmatic utopia
A reward in the future in exchange for your allegiance during the present
They dictate what is moral, what is productive and respectable
The indifferent majority is constantly searching for targets at which to point their fingers
They are free of responsibility so along as they have the means to pass the blame
A governing minority sits above on a capital hilltop, trying to maintain order,
While spiritual authorities use terms such as “miracle” and “faith” to describe the things science can not yet explain
Applause is due to some who pass laws in an attempt to control the madness
Even more so to those who volunteer to enforce them
Their best efforts to bring some form of justice to the aimless masses
What makes one man feel obligated to serve
And the next feel such luxuries are deserved for giving so little in return
They’ve nothing but contempt for the safety they enjoy
At the price of the insignificant taxes they pay
Are the modest salaries of those who ensure your security not earned?
Hatred for the faces behind desks where such objectionable laws are penned and passed
Faces whose places are a direct result of the votes so many choose to waste
Allow the media to mold your mind
To decide for you what is worthy of your criticism
Our televisions have the final say in what is wrong or right
For it is far easier to nod in agreement than to cause any kind of scene
To be anti-establishment is to be fashionably correct
Direct your anger not specifically at those whose actions and agendas are deserving of it,
But at the institution, its causes and effects as a whole
To be politically active is to object
With no motive, no function other than the principle act of rebellion
Standing halfheartedly unified, crying out in neglect
But be cautious, once the spotlight is yours you have clearly been singled out
Victims of profiling, an unfair and prejudice vendetta be on you and the beliefs your authorities are meant to protect
Is no attention due to the notion that the exercising of your rights and beliefs can only go as far as to not unjustly interfere with those who are not likeminded?
The power to determine the balance between free practice and unwarranted violation is one your elected minority has decided
By way of you speaking your voice, or by passing the choice on to those whom you trust to fill in the blanks in your name
Your can only hold your finger up in defiance for so long until you are left standing alone inside your own circle of blam
